03 Checklist

1-Pre-Race

  • All CF Stations are powered on.
  • All CF Stations have sufficient battery and correct station numbers.
  • The time is synchronized across all system hardware (Start Clock, CF Stations, Functional Stations, Finish Mat).
  • The contact-free function is enabled on all CF Stations.
  • The Finish Mat is deployed at the designated finish line position.
  • Using a test Contact-Free HC-Card, verify the mat's signal strength and coverage at the left, center, and right positions of the track. Fine-tune the mat's position based on test results for optimal signal.

2-Post-Race

Power off all CF Stations.

3-Enabling the Contact-Free Function on CF Stations

Before the race, use the Mode Card to tap the CF Station and enable its contact-free function; after the race, repeat the process to disable it.

When the function is enabled, the station's battery indicator light will flash rapidly; when disabled, it will flash slowly, and the triangular symbol on the screen representing the active contact-free mode will illuminate.

4-Punching Range

When the contact-free HC-card is stationary, a punch is guaranteed within 30 cm and impossible beyond 60 cm. The sensing distance decreases during high-speed punching.

5-CF Station Deployment Requirements

CF Stations must be deployed in clearly visible locations for athletes, with control flags positioned alongside them for identification. Securement can be achieved using wooden stakes, ground spikes, or other dedicated mounting equipment. For a dual-station backup configuration, stations must be spaced 10-15 cm apart, with the contact-free function activated on one unit and deactivated on the other. Stations must be placed on flat ground. Athletes should control their speed when punching to avoid missed punches due to excessive speed (a requirement common to all contact-free systems).

04 Athlete Check-In

During check-in, athletes must complete the following sequence of operations before proceeding to the Start Station:

  • First, punch the Clear Station using the Contact-Free HC-Card in contact mode to erase all previous competition data from the card.
  • Then, punch the Check Station using the same card in contact mode. Under normal circumstances, the card will power on and provide audible, visual, and vibration feedback, indicating normal battery level and operational readiness. If no feedback occurs, it signifies the card's battery is depleted, and for the remainder of the event, the depleted card can only be used in contact mode.

05 Start Procedure

1-Start Station

The Start Station can be configured for either contact or contact-free punching. The specific mode to be used must be defined by the event rules and clearly announced to all athletes before the competition.

When a Contact-Free HC-Card is brought near the front of the Start Station, the device will emit a "di-di" audio prompt accompanied by a flashing light, indicating a successful punch. If the card remains in continuous contact with the station, the audio-visual feedback will persist until the card is removed.

2-Start Time

The actual start time for the competition can be determined through the following different methods:

  • Method 1: Preset Start Time
A unified start time is preset for all athletes before the race. Athletes begin directly after hearing the clock's countdown finish

  • Method 2: Self-Selected Start Time
The start time is determined by the start list, with the individual's actual punch time at the Start Station serving as the official start time.
Athletes must manually punch the Start Station to initiate timing. If the Start Station is punched multiple times, the time of the last punch is recorded as the start time.

Pre-Start Note

All athletes must punch the Check Station before starting to verify that their Contact-Free HC-Card is functioning properly.

06 Finish Station

A Contact-Free Finish Mat is deployed at the finish line, allowing athletes to sprint across at full speed.

  • Finish Mat Deployment and Securing
If the finish area is on snow, the mat can be secured by shallowly burying it beneath the snow surface using tools such as a shovel. For installation on hard surfaces like asphalt, the mat must be firmly adhered with tape or secured using a specialized underlay placed on top.

It is crucial to ensure the mat is laid flat and stable to prevent shifting, curling, or detachment during the competition. Finally, connect the properly deployed mat to the dedicated finish CF Station to activate it for use.

  • Safety Zone Around the Finish Line
Please note that the signal coverage of the Finish Mat can extend several meters. To prevent participants from accidentally approaching and triggering a premature punch, a dedicated safety zone must be established: approximately 3.5 meters on each side of the mat and about 5 meters in front of it (along the direction of the race).

  • Instructions for Using the Mat-Specific CF Station
Its setup and operation are identical to those of a standard CF Station: power on, synchronize time, enable the contact-free function, then connect it to the mat to begin transmitting punch signals.

07 Contact-Free HC-Card Wearing Guide

During competition, wear the HUIHCANG Contact-Free HC-Card on your finger.

  • In contact-free mode, briefly holding the card within 0-30 cm of a CF Station will trigger a successful punch, indicated by the card's LED light flashing along with audible and vibration feedback for about 3 seconds.

Key Reminder

Observing the light flash and feeling the vibration are essential, as they are the primary confirmation of a correctly executed punch。

Before the race starts, always check your card's battery:

  • Adequate Charge: Breathing light flashes green – card is operational.
  • Low Charge: Breathing light flashes red – requires immediate charging.

08 Results Retrieval Methods

To retrieve results, connect the Master Station to the computer results system via the Master Station Cable. Athletes can then punch the Master Station using their Contact-Free HC-Card to complete the results readout.

If extraction of punch data stored within a CF Station is required, connect the station to a computer after the competition and run the dedicated data reading software. This will allow for the download of all card records from contact-mode punches registered at that specific station.
